Who can join the ETU?
You can join the ETU if you work in the following trades or industries:
Electrical, Electronics, Security or Data/Communications
Radio and TV
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Shipbuilding - including maintaining and breaking
Railway - including infrastructure and rolling stock
Tradespeople, Apprentices and Non Tradespeople are all eligible.
Plumbing and Pipe Trades are covered by the PPTEU. Join the PPTEU here.

How much does it cost to join the Electrical Trades Union?
Memberships run from the 1st July through to 30th June every year.
You can choose to pay for your membership via invoice (credit card payment upfront) or via direct debit deductions.
Usually, your annual membership fee would be calculated pro-rata based on the date you join (from your join date to 30/06/22). However, as we are on the cusp of a new financial year, your annual membership fee will include membership fees for 2022/2023.
You have the option to select payment of a full year or half year to include on top of your 2021/2022 fee.
Breakdown of membership fees:
(For members joining and paying via invoice from now until 1st July 2022)
1. Membership fee to 30/06/22
2. One-off joining fee
3. PLUS, either half year or full year 2022/2023 fees.
NOTE: Our secretary has endorsed the following discounts
Members who join prior to 30/06/22 and pay a full year (membership paid to 30/06/23)
will have their 2022/23 annual fee reduced as follows:
$752.75 - Tradespersons
$689.30 - Non-Tradesperson or Adult Apprentice
$297.30 - Junior Apprentice (under 21 years old)
The discount amount is not available after 1st July 2022 and fees will revert to the original cost below.
Annual Membership Fees for 2022 / 2023
Union dues are 100% tax deductible
$828.00 - Tradespersons
$758.30 - Non-Tradesperson or Adult Apprentice
$327.00 - Junior Apprentice (under 21 years old)
When you first join you will also be charged a one-off joining fee -
$11.00 - Tradespersons
$2.20 - Non-Tradesperson or Adult Apprentice
$NIL - Junior Apprentice (under 21 years old)
You also have the option to pay your Union membership fees via direct debit. Deductions are taken fortnightly on Fridays.

$31.85 - Tradespersons
$29.20 - Non-Tradesperson or Adult Apprentice
$12.60 - Junior Apprentice (under 21 years old)
Please note, if you have an existing industrial issue or you are now joining to request assistance with the recent Public Health Order regarding the Covid-19 vaccine, we have the right to refuse your membership application.
