Who can join the ETU?

You can join the ETU if you work in the following trades or industries:

Electrical, Electronics, Security or Data/Communications

Lifts
-
Radio and TV
-
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
-
Automotive
-
Manufacturing
-
Foundry
-
Mechanical
-
Aircraft
-
Technicians
-
Shipbuilding - maintaining and breaking
-
Railway - infrastructure and rolling stock
Tradespeople, Apprentices and Non Tradespeople are all eligible.
Plumbing and Pipe Trades are covered by the PPTEU. Join the PPTEU here.
Postal & Telecommunications workers are covered by the CWUnion. Join the CWUnion here.

How much does it cost to join the Electrical Trades Union?
​
Memberships run from the 1st July through to 30th June every year.
You can choose to pay for your membership via invoice (credit card payment upfront) or via direct debit deductions.
Annual Membership Fees
Union dues are 100% tax deductible
​
Member fees are calculated pro-rata based on the date you join (from your join date to 30/06/25).
You also have the option to pay your dues fortnightly via direct debit.

Membership Rates for 2024/2025
$854.00 - Tradespersons
$784.30 - Non-Tradesperson or Adult Apprentice
$353.00 - Junior Apprentice (under 21 years old)

When you first join you will also be charged a one-off joining fee -

$11.00 - Tradespersons
$2.20 - Non-Tradesperson or Adult Apprentice
$NIL - Junior Apprentice (under 21 years old)

You also have the option to pay your Union membership fees via direct debit. Deductions are taken fortnightly on Fridays.
